Indicadores Dinámicos del Éxito en la Lectura (IDEL™) are measures developed to evaluate students’ performance in beginning reading skills in Spanish. Through this new assessment, the power of DIBELSⓇ is expanded to measure the reading skills of young Spanish-speaking readers. IDEL measures reflect the fact that Spanish, like English, is an alphabetic language, but that Spanish, unlike English, has a regular orthography in which letter sound correspondence is more transparent.
Spanish-speaking students in grades K-3 benefit from the IDEL measures to evaluate and monitor reading skills in Spanish.
